MALAYSIA

I recently returned from a business trip to Penang Malaysia.   Also known as George Town, named after England's King George III.  It's a really nice place.  The people here in Malaysia are very friendly and this was my second trip to Malaysia this year.

Malaysia is predominately a Muslim country, but they are very tolerant of other cultures and religions.  But, too a point.  I was reading in the local newspaper about certain Muslim "decency police" that spy on people looking for indecent behavior.  A fifty year old couple from the United States were detained by these people until a Muslim cleric intervened on their behalf.  Later, an opinion article from this cleric declared this practice needs to stop if Malaysia is to continued to be viewed as a moderate Islamic country.

Anyway, back to my travels....

Over the clouds in a Boeing 777, the largest commercial airplane in the world.  Oh yeah, there is the Airbus A380, which is larger, but not ready for commercial release just yet.

On the way to Penang Malaysia, I spent an eight hour lay-over in Hong Kong.

It's an airport with a huge shopping mall built inside.  You can get anything here, a massage, duty-free shopping, fast food...  speaking of fast food...

Where do people go to eat in an airport that has some pretty good restaurants?

There is a crowd here larger than any other restaurant.

And it's Burger King.  Go figure.  Of all the places to go here in Hong Kong to eat, people want Burger King.  And New York bans trans fats.  What are people thinking?

Years ago, they, the PC (politically correct) people said eggs and butter will raise your cholesterol and kill you!  Now it's margarine, because of the trans fats!  Now butter is good because it's "natural"!  Yet, e coli is found in lettuce and spinach and please don't eat at Taco Bell else you'll get something bad.  And they say be careful of what you eat and drink in foreign countries.  Uh huh.... yeah right....  cook it yerself... yea, yerself...

It's a pretty foggy day here in Hong Kong.  Nothing much to see outside.

Looking around in the airport there's plenty to see.

Look!  There's Santa Claus in the Taiwan Beef and Noodles restaurant!

A huge Christmas Tree in the middle of the airport.

But Wait!     Where's the political correctness?  It makes me think...

If only we in America could take lesson from those here.  I see people wearing USA jackets, I Love NY T-shirts, and other clothing with United States University logos walking around in the Hong Kong airport.

Although some American Universities seem very anti-American these days.  What with the likes of idiot morons like Ward Churchill poisoning the minds of students with their anti-American spew.

What is wrong in this country when loud mouth liberals can dominate the news with their complaining crap about what's wrong with America and no one challenges them?

A country can be judged by how many people want to enter and by how many want to leave.  Wonder why we have an immigration problem?

Ack!  This is why I get my news and information from the Internet and not from:

ABC (Always Bull Crap)
NBC (Nothing But Crap)
CBS (Constant Bull Crap)

Although I watch the television news to get all the perspective, or propaganda, I still research the accuracy of their stories.

News Makers verses News Reporters.  Big Difference.

Upon arriving in Penang, the first thing I'll do....

Take a dip in the pool!

A view from the hotel room towards the north.

Looking towards the west.

Looking towards the south.  A pretty nice city.

There is a housing boom here in Penang.  The currency is about 1 USD = just about 3.50 in Malaysian Ringgits.  So about $100.00 USD converts to RM$350.00, not bad.  You can spend a lot here.

The hotel is decorated in a distinct Christmas theme.  Even the hotel Bellhop, a Muslim, greets me with a hearty Merry Christmas upon my arrival.  If only the Politically Correct Anti-Christmas Hating protesters could see this.

I have some free time to go downtown for some sight seeing.

Penang's tallest building.  Hey, they're proud of this.

The downtown area is clean and very nice.

Interesting architecture.

Mostly English speaking, Malaysia has a large ethnic population.  Besides the local Malay people, there are also, Indian, Pakistani, Philippine, Chinese, and American, and lots more.

Ah, here is someplace interesting!  This is like an open market, a carnival, a food court, you name it, they got it!  Local kine foods!  Street Foods!

Vendors of all kine types!  (Kine, that's a Hawaiian term, in case you didn't know)

I'll think I'll sample the local cuisine!

First off, it's a milk and fruit loaded dessert with shaved ice.  Yes, I can have dessert first.  I'm a adult now and I can do that.

Next.... my favorite, Stir Fry Noodles....

Flat and thin noodles, with shrimp, chicken, and vegetables.  They're in there somewhere covered in a brown sauce.

It's got a spicy kick to it.                Don't I stick out like a sore thumb?

Sweet corn!  A local favorite!

Families come here to spend time in the carnival atmosphere in between shopping.

Popular?  I'd say so.  It just goes on and on....

To Be Continued....
