Aloha Po'alua I've begun laying out the the new upstairs flooring! Also we had another disfunctional community board meeting tonight. It's a shame because I believe the local government is going to collapse. Board members have resigned and there is a lot of animosity towards members of the board. TSUNAMI ALERT This morning at 1:14 AM HST an earthquake hit the Kuril Islands which are located northeast of Japan. It measured 8.3 on the Richter scale. A Tsunami alert was issued for the pacific basin which includes the Hawaiian islands. Another earthquake hit Japan which had a magnitude 7.2 injured at least 40 people. Another tsunami alert was issued and lifted after it was determined the tsunami was only centimeters high hit the coastline.   more »

Tonight is Black and White Night in Hilo. This event is held every year in downtown Hilo. People love to dress up in black and white outfits and stroll around town on a Friday night. Me, I prefer to stay home and watch TV. I don't like to worry about parking and dealing with the crowds of people. Maybe someday we'll go to this event.    more »
